I have many flowers in a planter and flies are around them 24/7 and I can't find anything that will keep them off of the flowers.

Off hand I can't think of any reason why flies would be particularly attracted to your planter unless you used fresh barnyard manure in the soil mix or there is some other attractant nearby. Removing the attractant should help, however, you might also try using a fly trap, either the old fashioned hanging sticky paper or the baited jar type available from farm supply stores.
