After the tomatoe is ripe what do you do: take them off? leave them on? what is the "drying" proceedure. Our plant was given to us so we have no instructions.

Sundried tomatoes are normally paste type tomatoes that are allowed to ripen on the plant, then picked and set out to dry in a single layer on racks in the sun (in a very dry climate) or in a dehydrator or occasionally even in a very low oven with the door left slightly open until they are leathery. You might check with your county extension (874-2957) for their most up to date home food processing safety recommendations on how to dry and store these once they are dried.
