| Every year I plant annuals in pots and I use a mix for each pot. I like to use bacopa and it usually does fine until, all of a sudden, just from one day to the next, it wilts. When that happens it cannot be revived lack of water is not the problem. Also the stems will have turned brown. What causes this. The rest of the plants in the same pot seem fine and I can't find any sign of insect infestation. My only option is to pull it out of the pot. I sure would like to know how to prevent this from happening. |
| This plant (Sutera cordata) needs to be kept moist, but should still be in a well drained mix so the roots are well aerated. The pH should be about 6.0 to 6.5. It has some tendency toward pythium, so perhaps this is what you are seeing especially if the soil is overly wet or the plants are crowded so there is a lack of air circulation. Finally, this plant flowers best in cooler temperatures (73 degrees or less) and often ceases bloomin gin hot weather so it is possible that severe heat is just taking its toll. |
