Are inorganic/artificial chemical fertilizers better or commercially available organic fertilizers better for annuals?

Your plants will only recognize that nutrients are available to the roots - they cannot distinguish between prepared fertilizers and organic fertilizers. Since annuals have such short lives, and organic matter takes a long time to break down and release nutrients, I'd recommend using a commercially prepared liquid fertilizer for annuals, diluted according to label directions.
