Junipers can be trimmed lightly as needed during the growing season up until late summer. Although they are capable of resprouting from dormant buds way back on the plant, a severe pruning runs the risk of shocking the plant to death. Regrowth will also take some time so the plant will possibly look unsightly for a long time. A severe pruning is also better done in early spring to give the plant ample time during the growing season to recover.
