|An insect is killing my bayberry in Bethany Beasch Del. The tips of the branches are brown and curled. I sprayed it with ortho bug be gone ...do you know how to save my shrub?
|Bayberry (Myrica pensylvanica) is not normally subject to pests or diseases, so it is difficult to make a guess as to what the problem would be. (A newly planted shrub might show browning at the tips due to transplant stress, however. If yours is new, make sure it is being watered correctly. This means a deep soaking when the soil begins to dry rather than a daily light sprinkling.) You might want to take a sample to your county extension for a more specific diagnosis and suggested remedy, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
