We put our house plants outside for some sun and now they are full of spiders. What can I do to get rid of the spiders before I bring them back inside?

Usually, prior to bringing them indoors a routine washing or two with a spray of water from the garden hose along with careful inspection and treatment with insectidal soap (if needed) will clean off any insects including aphids, spider mites, and spiders that may have hopped on during the summer. Often times the spiders will have moved on by fall all by themselves, too.
