We have some absolutely enormous zuccini and yellow squash plants but no zuccini or yellow squash -- what is wrong? The plants flowered but that is it.

When the plants begin to flower, they first produce male blossoms and then by about the tenth bloom or so will begin to include female blossoms. This delay is to ensure better pollination. If your plants are young, this coudl explain it. If the problem persists, then it is likely a lack of pollination, possibly due to lack of insect activity. You can help things along by using a soft paint brush from blossom to blossom.
