I purchased a Lonicera x BrownII Dropmore Scarlet Honeysuckle early this spring, specifically for the fragrance. When it is in bloom it does not have a scent. Is this normal for this species of honeysuckle?

In my experience, this honeysuckle (along with Lonicera x heckrottii) is not particularly fragrant. Its garden worthiness is found instead in its attractiveness to birds, hummingbirds and butterflies due to both its blooms and fruit; the unique coloring of the blooms; and its hardiness.
