|I have silver mounds planted in an area of my landscaping. The first year they were planted, they stayed the perfect size (about 1 1/2 feet wide). This is the second year for them, and the problem I'm having is that they have grown twice as large as they were last year. Another problem, is that they have gotten so tall that they are seperating in the center which is causing them to lose their "mound" appearance. They are seedy and they are looking unkept. I'm not sure that I should be trimming them back, and can I or should I divide them at the end of the season in order to prevent them from getting too large? If so, when is the best time to do this?
