Will be putting in a climbing rose between neighbors in southern CA. Would like one that will be disease resistant, as thornless as possible and have blooms most of year. Want the neighbors to enjoy the roses as much as we will. The wall gets sun all year long. Also, can you plant a morning glory first to take over the 'empty' space on the trellis before the rose takes over?

'Dream Weaver' is a pink climber with good disease resistance and 'New Dawn' produces pink flowers continuously throughout the season. 'White Dawn' is a disease resistant free-flowering climber and 'Dortmund' is vigorous, disease resistant rose. My favorite is 'Handel', a large flowered climber producing ruffled pale pink or white blossoms edges with deep pink. The bush is covered with blooms from top to bottom all season. Its disease resistance improves as the plant gets older.

I wouldn't plant anything on the trellis that might compete with the roses. They can grow 10'-15' canes in just a few short months.
