Is the best way to plant shasta daisies simply by purchasing
the plants when available at nurseries and putting them into the ground or can they be started with seeds? If started with seeds, will they flower the first year? When is their flowering season -- summer?

There are numerous varieties of Shasta daisy with varying bloom periods from May to October. Transplants are quicker, but you can also plant from seed. Sow seed in spring, but it may take up to five-six months for bloom, which is why many gardeners prefer to start with transplants. Hope this info helps!
