Now that my balloon flowers have finished blooming and the seeds are forming, I'd like to save some seeds for planting next year. Do I save the whole "pod" and plant that or should I open the "pod" and remove the seeds?

Once the pods are quite dry and nearly ready to burst open, harvest them. When they are very dry, open them to release the seeds.
