Does an english daisy die back like a bleeding heart plant does, or are mine in the process of dying? They did really well, until a few weeks ago. If they are, is there any way to save them? The plants were planted in May, 2000 just after risk of frost had passed. We have had a rather hot summer, with the rain coming very heavy, then long dry spells. During the dry spells, I did water at least two times a week. |
Bellis perennis, or English daisy, is a perennial plant. The tops are dying back right on schedule. The roots will rest for a while, then send new leaves and flowering stems up next spring. English daisies need rich, well-draining soil and lots of water during the growing season. If your summer's are typically hot, try providing some afternoon shade for your plants. |
