| I planted glads about 6 years ago. They are against my house & get afternoon/evening sun. I admit I do not dig them up each year, but the bulbs I have mistakenly unearthed over the years are healthy & hard, not mushy. The problem is, while we have been getting lots of nice green leaves, we did not have many flowers. The "new" offshoots especially do not bloom. Can I fix this with Bulb Booster? Or division? Or do Glads have a life expectancy & I need to simply throw the bulbs away. |
| Based on your description it sounds like the plants may be too crowded and/or too young. New plants grow from the cormels (baby corms) and crowd the original corm. One of the reasons to dig them occasionally is to lift and sort the corms, saving the largest for replanting and keeping the smaller ones for a nursery bed where they can be planted and allowed to grow until they reach blooming size. |
