|I have recently taken up growing Pansy's. I am new to gardening so am unaware of how to deadhead my flowers. I am not sure how far down to cut or exactly when to cut.
|Pansies are delightful little plants that will bloom profusely over a long season if you remove the spent flowers as soon as the petals begin to wilt. Deadheading keeps the plants looking nice and stops the formation of seeds, which encourages the plant to produce even more flowers. I deadhead my pansies by pinching off the flowering stem close to the main stem. You'll have several flowering stems attached to a main stem and pinching a faded stem will produce additional growth along the main stem. So, in addition to keeping your plant attractive, pinching will encourage a bushy growth habit. Enjoy your pansies!
