Although it is quite possible to germinate the seeds and grow the seedlings indoors for a short time, in my experience it would be very difficult to maintain the plants in a healthy enough condition to bloom indoors. The plants need an extremely bright location (the need full sun during the summer outdoors) as well as a deep rich soil, and furthermore grow quite large. In my experience the average home does not provide enough light or space to meet those requirements. Having said that, you could experiment and see what happens!
