Can I bring in houseplants which were outside all summer without repotting them? I am concerned about slug, earwigs, etc which may have crawled into the pots. Is there something I can apply to the soil to get rid of them or should I just repot? |
Those insects are large enough that you should be able to see them if they have infested your plant. Slowly acclimate your plant to moving back indoors by putting it in a sheltered location for a couple hours at a time, gradually increasing the time period until you bring it indoors. This will help reduce the shock of a changed environment. Do the reverse next spring when you put them outside. You might also want to "quarantine" your plants in a separate room or in large cardboard boxes until you determine that there are no insect problems. I'm not aware of anything that you could apply to the soil for slugs or earwigs. Good luck! |
