| I have a Hawiian Lei Plant, frangipani It is the plant used to make the Hawaiian Leis. I have been digging the plant up each fall before frost and putting it in the basement or garage for the winter. I seem to have trouble getting it to bloom in the summer and am wondering if there is some way to winter it over that would make it more likely to bloom in the summer? I have just been letting it set bare root all winter. |
| If you have the space, I suggest planting it in a container and putting it in a bright window over the winter. Then in spring, you can move the container outdoors. Digging and storing it can be stressful, although necessary in cold winters, and it doesn't have that long of a growing period. Try fertilizing once a month with a fertilizer that has a higher middle number (such as 5-10-5), which will promote bloom. I hope this helps! |
