|Hello, I'm doing a science experiment on Roses, and I was wondering, when you cut roses and put them in vases to show, what is the best liquid to put in the vases? and how much should you put in them?|
|Cut flowers last longer if you use one of the following in place of plain water: Mix 1 teaspoon bleach and one tablespoon sugar into a gallon of water, or add one cup of 7-Up (or other clear softdrink) to 1/2 gallon of water. Use either mixture in place of water in a vase of cut flowers. The acid slows bacterial growth and the sugar provides nutrients to the flowers, helping them stay fresher longer. Fill the vase to within an inch or so of the top with one of the mixtures.
