How should I prune my trumpet vine?

Some trumpet vines can be very assertive and take over an area if not controlled. If your vine is a spring bloomer that flowers on year-old wood, then prune after blooming. If it blooms late summer on that season's wood, prune when dormant, which would be late winter/early spring, just before new growth starts. I wouldn't prune now as pruning can stimulate fresh tender growth which would be sensitive to frost this late in the fall. Hope this info helps!
