I planted 12, 6 foot Arborvitae in early spring. They have browned in the center which your responces to other questions has explained, but I wish to trim them back from time to time in order to allow them to fill out and grow into a wall. When is the best time of year to do that, and how much should I trim off? Will cutting them back now (early November)harm them or help.

Evergreens should not be trimmed in the mid to late fall. It is better to trim them lightly in late spring and again during the summer if needed to shape them.
