I have very limited space in my garden and would like to try the "three sisters" combo. I was planning on using zucchini and patty pan squash (will these work o.k.?) but I don't really like green beans or cooking dried beans (use canned) Will peas work? I love fresh peas. |
The beauty of the "three sisters" is that the plants all provide something for each other. The beans are able to climb up the corn stalks, and being a legume, they also "fix" nitrogen in the soil. Since peas can climb and are also a legume, they should work as a good substitute. Any squash will be fine. Good luck! |
