re: canna lilly.
while waiting for the stalks to die back after the frost- we got this odd winter and is has now been 3 weeks of under freezing... i usually dig up the bulb and dry them for a while then store in sawdust over the winter.
so... do i dig them up now and store... or just let them stay in the ground and hope for the best??

ps... i wanted to move them in the spring-and dont want them growing where they were this year.

what 'cha think??

If the ground has frozen you may not be able to dig them up this late in the game. If that is the case, you could try heaping extra mulch over top of the area to try to insulate them a bit more than usual, and hope for the best. In my experience, though, odds are that they will not survive a normally cold Indiana winter.

Cannas can be dug and moved in the spring, too, so assuming they survive the winter it should be no special problem to transplant them next spring.

Good luck!
