| Several high school classes I am working with have just collected seeds resulting from the cross pollination of several color cleome plants (for a genetics project). We would now like to germinate these seeds. Do the seeds need to be pre-treated in any way (e.g. cold treatment, drying, etc)? What is the best way to plant these seeds after any such pre-treatment? |
| Cleome seeds have a pre-chill requirement. Mix your seeds together with some moistened growing medium and seal in a plastic bag. Refrigerate for 2 weeks. Then sow just on the surface of moistened seed starting mix, provide bottom heat (70F-75F is ideal), and the seeds should sprout in 10-14 days. Good luck with your project! |
