Are there any varieties of roses that can be grown in a pot? I'd love to have some but live in an apartment (with a balcony). |
Many roses will grow in pots. Try to use as large a container as possible and ensure that they have at least 6 hours of sunlight (or more) per day to promote bloom. Protection from hot afternoon sun is helpful. Usually, you will need to water more frequently in containers. Apply a layer of mulch to the top of the soil to help maintain soil moisture and reduce soil temperatures. Any miniature rose will perform in a pot; here are some other varieties that should do well in containers: Betty Prior, Bonica, Brass Band, Carefree Delight, Carefree Wonder, China Doll, Europeana, Flower Carpet, Iceberg, Margaret Merrill, Margo Koster, Regensberg, Sarabande, Sun Flare, The Fairy, Watermelon Ice. |
