|Is it true that slugs will stay away from an area that has been planted with artemesia? If so, how many would I need to plant to protect one hosta plant?|
|To be honest I have never heard that so I do not know it to be true for a fact. However, it is hard to imagine growing the two plants together because hosta is a shade lover and artemisia insists on full sun to do well. |
Better methods of slug control around hosta might include hand picking (at night, drop them into soapy water), setting beer-baited traps, or using a ring of diatomaceous earth (DE, sold in the garden center) around the plant. Also, avoid watering at night and encourage slug enemies such as toads.
