How much fertilizer should I use when growing eggplants inside? |
I assume you're referring to seedlings that you will eventually transplant outside. Seedlings newly emerged from the soil don't require fertilizer until they have begun developing their "true" leaves. If you are growing them in a soilless seed starting mix, you can feed them once or twice a week with a diluted solution. If you transplant them up to a soil mix that contains organic matter/nutrients, then fertilizer can be applied every 10-14 days, still diluted. Let the appearance of your plants be a guide, and be sure not to overfertilize, which can burn roots and kill the plant. Good luck with your eggplants! |
