I have been looking for Black Elderberry bushes (Sambucus nigra) for my garden but can't seem to find them. I have found varieties called Johns and Adams but am not sure if they are same thing. Where can I find Black Elderberry?

American elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) is the most commonly cultivated because it's more cold hardy than the European species (S. nigra). 'York', 'Adams', and 'Johns' are improved American species bearing black fruits. Sambucus nigra is marketed under the name 'European Elderberry'. One source is Raintree Nursery, 391 Butts Rd., Morton, WA 98356 (206) 496-6400.
