I'm new to growing onions. I would like to know what onions are best to grow so that I can pickle them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
The best onions for pickling are pearl onions. These produce marble-sized white bulbs, perfect for salads or for pickling. Sow seeds in the spring for summer harvest, or in the summer for fall harvest. Find a sunny garden site, spread a few inches of organic matter over the soil, dig it in to a depth of 6"-8", then sow your seeds about 1/2" apart. Pearl onions take 50 days from seed sowing to harvest. |
