I have a container that is 10" in diameter and app. 8" deep and I am wondering what house plant would be appropriate. I am looking for either a colorful leafy plant, or a flowering plant. Since I have ferrets, the pot sill be sitting high up near a window that receives partial sun (11:00 - 3:00 during the summer). Since it will be up high, I need something that will either hang down or stand at least 5" tall. The clearance from the top of the container to the ceiling is 1'. I already have 4 spider plants, 3 philodendronds (I'm sure I misspelled that), 2 ivy (from my bridal bouquet) and 1 Christmas cactus. Any suggestions?

Arrowhead is an easy to grow houseplant with arrow-shaped leaves that sometimes have white or yellow veining. Different cultivars have different heights, but as it grows more mature, it will also hang down a bit. It also responds well to being clipped for more cuttings.

Tahitian bridal veil will be a lovely choice. It has very tiny foliage that hangs down, and it will bloom with equally tiny white flowers (somewhat like baby's breath). It is harder to find, though.

Swedish ivy looks different from other ivy because it's not really an ivy! It's Latin name is Plectranthus australis. It has somewhat fleshy, scalloped-edged leaves. It is a good trailing plant.
