Most perennials bloom for only a week or two, so you will need to select plants that bloom in approximate sequence for blooms all season. For continuous bloom I suggest that you include some annuals among the perennials. Some easy care perennials for spring include creeping phlox, candytuft, Siberian iris and Oriental poppies. For summer, you can choose from among a huge number of plants, such as purple cone flowers, black-eyed susan and one of the perennial forms of salvia. For later summer, Joe Pye weed and asters are dependable bloomers, and for fall, the sedums can't be beat.
