Hi, I am a single Mom and am buying my first home. With my busy schedule and taking care of my child and my new home I do not have alot of time or energy to put into mowing and trimming and weeding a grass lawn.
Do you have a suggestion on a low care ground cover? I like the look of dichondra (I've heard its rather fragile) but my new house has a sunny lawn (during summer) and snow and ice during the winter season.
Thanks so much!

There are many lawn substitutes available, and they are certainly less demanding in terms of maintenance than plain old grass. Most are more attractive, too! My favorites include Hippocrepis comosa (mat forming), Chamomile, Vinca minor, Vancouveria planipetala, Thymus and Houttuynia cordata 'Variegata'. Each of these provides seasonal bloom and all, once established require only weekly watering during the hottest summer months. Enjoy!
