I bought a mini aloe plant. Will it grow? Do I re-pot it in a bigger pot, and how often should I water it? Please help before she dies. Thank you Kristen |
Aloes come in all shapes and sizes, but the most commonly grown is Aloe variegata. It grows upright leaves that are triangular in shape. Aloes like average household temperatures and really flourish if nighttime temperatures are about ten degrees lower than daytime temperatures. Keep in a windowsill so the plant will receive some direct sunlight. Water when the soil begins to dry out, and water thoroughly. In the winter water only every 4-6 weeks. Plants appreciate fresh air and good air circulation, so open the window periodically and let the plant bask in the fresh air. Aloes like being pot-bound, so don't repot it just yet - wait until you see roots growing out of the drainage holes. Aloes are tough plants. Be careful not to overwater, and it should thrive. Good luck with your aloe! |
