I purchased butterfly bush last year, never planted it. It has been in my garrage all winter. I want to plant it, when and how do I do it? Any additional care tips will help! |
If the plant is still alive, you can plant it this spring. When the weather begins to moderate, gradually move it outdoors and then plant in a sunny spot with average to good soil. Butterfly bushes tend to die back in colder areas during the winter, so trim away any dead branches or twigs in late spring each year. (These would have no green visible inside or under the bark.) New growth produces the blooms on this plant, so do not prune after late spring or you will be removing the blooming wood for the year. |
