| I got a wisteria tree last year for my birthday and very excited I was. However, now it is March (I live in Virginia) and my Wisteria still looks dead. Should I be worried? It was approx. 3.5 feet tall when I got it. I have it in a sunny spot and had put pine needles around the base for the Winter. I am not sure what kind it is, but it is suppose to have pink flowers. PLEASE HELP!! |
| I think you're doing everything right. Just have a little patience - your plant will begin to show new growth when the weather warms up. There are three types of commonly grown wisteria; Japanese (Wisteria floribunda), Chinese (Wisteria sinensis), and Silky (Wisteria venusta). Japanese and Silky wisteria bloom after the leaves expand, and Chinese wisteria blooms before the leaves expand. Wisteria bloom best when planted in full sunshine, and pruned in late winter to encourage the production of new flowering wood. |
