I recently had the good fortune to find a Wardian case at a very reasonable price. I have wanted to make a miniature setting for a long time and now I have the chance. WHAT should I use in it? |
Your choice will be determined by the lighting, temperature and humidity within the case. By selecting a group of plants that like the same conditions, you will be able to create a healthy combination with a minimum of work. For instance, if you leave the case open and have bright light, you could use a fast draining lean soil mix and plant succulents and cactus. In a bright location out of direct light and with a closed top, you could use smaller tropical plants that prefer richer moister soil and ample humidity such as miniature African violets. In either case, it will take some fine tuning and trial and error to determine the best location for the case and the best plants to grow in it.
