I have "soaked" broccili and onion seedlings in separate containers of vermicilite and they have sprouted nicely, now about 2" high...is it time to put them in seedling trays? And if so, do I separate each little stem? Thank you for your help. |
Yes, you'll need to separate the little seedlings and pot them up individually. You can use the small cells (usually come in 6-packs), or 2" pots. Make sure your potting soil is well-draining and plant each seedling so the stem is just above soil level. Getting the seedlings apart without damaging them will take some time and some patience, but you can untangle them easily by using toothpicks (one in each hand). Once you've sorted them out plant them immediately so the roots do not have a chance to dry out. Good luck with your project! |
