|Hi, I just ordered 2 hybrid tea roses, Mr. Lincoln and Peace and was wondering if I could plant them in large containers on my pation instead of in my garden. Thanks.

|Both shrub roses will grow nicely in large containers. Choose at least 5-gallon pots and make sure there are adequate drainage holes in the bottoms or sides of the pots. Fill them with commercial potting soil and plant your new roses. Soil in containers can dry out quickly so water as often necessary to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet. Plan to fertilize frequently during the growing season. I use a liquid fertilizer diluted to quarter strength and feed my containerized roses every week from spring through fall. Give your roses full sunshine and clip back the spent blooms to encourage additional flowering all summer long.
