I have a wall right outside my back door leading to my yard. I would like to plant something other than Ivy to spruce up that wall. I like the Houttuynia but it doesn't say whether it will climb or attach itself to a wall in its description. If it doesn't can you suggest something colorful that will.

This plant does not climb, instead it spreads with underground runners, rampantly to the point of being invasive if planted in a moist soil. Some self supporting climbers to consider for a wall would include the Euonymous fortunei varieties (Emerald Gaiety is an attractively variegated form), Virginia Creeper, and one of the many variegated forms of English Ivy (Hedera helix).
