|I recently read an article about a garden which contained decorative tuteurs a tepee type structure. They had mini pumpkins growing on them. I am looking for a plan on how to build them. I have emailed the magazine with no sucess. The article was in the Country living Gardener, October Issue, Fall Decorating Garden. I raise pumpkins and am going to make a new garden and wish to include these tuteurs they would be perfect. Can You help ???
Thank You For You Time
|The Kitchen Gardener magazine published plans for a tuteur in the December 1998 - January 1999 issue. http://www.taunton.com/kg/admi...
It is a simple thing to make a basic structure in a pyramidal shape out of bamboo or wooden poles or saplings about 8 feet long, just lash them together at the top, splay them out and then twine sturdy string or wire along them to provide the framework for the vines' tendrils to grab.
Alternatively, you could use one by twos from the lumberyard and create a tuteur more or less by eye working from a photo. It might not be the finely crafted piece of sculpture but it would probably hold up the pumpkins.
