I planted Coreopsis (Moonbean) last spring and cannot find out how to care for the leftover folliage now that spring is coming. May I trim it back - if so how much? If not, what happens to the "dead" stuff I see now?

The thread leafed coreopsis can be trimmed off as short as possible in late fall after frosts have killed the tops or in early spring. The new growth emerges from the ground a bit late in the spring, so mark the plant's location to avoid stepping on it until it comes up.
