| Dear expert, In August of 2000, I purchased and planted 25 "blue italian cypress" trees by Monrovia from my local nursury..I followed the care instructions precisely, and now I noticed that they have turned a yellow/brown color on the bottom and tops, there is some green left but they are not looking so good..The nursury where I purchased them told me they would be fine in my zone, and now I find out the nursury has a NO WARRANTY policy on all their plants!..I have invested alot in these beautiful trees and I know it has been a harsh winter, but is there anything I can do to help save them!!! |
| Based on your description, I am not certain exactly what is happening with your cypress trees. However, they are not considered hardy in areas colder than zone 7 (where winter low temperatures average as low as 0 to 10 degrees), so it is possible they are suffering some cold damage especially since newly planted plants are more susceptible to cold dmage than more established plants would be. You might want to consult with your county extension (325-2788) to see if they have any suggestions or can identify any other possible problems the trees may be experiencing (such as over or under watering or over or underfertilizing or a pH incompatibility or poor drainage or insect damage) that could be remedied through cultural practices.
