Choose smaller or bush varieties for containers. 'Patio Hybrid' tomato was developed just for containers, but you could also grow determinate varieties like 'Celebrity', 'Sweet Tangerine', or 'Northern Exposure'. For theselast 3, choose a large container--one that holds at least 5 gallons. Peppers and eggplants also grow well in containers--any variety will do. Also bush beans like 'Tenderpod', zucchini like 'Burpee Hybrid', and most herbs. Even vining cucumbers can be grown in containers, providing you give them a trellis to climb.

Check out the "Garden Talk" insert in the new Burpee Catalog. It contains an article entitled: "Container Magic" for more information about container growing.
