| My neighbor transplanted a bleedin heart 3 yrs ago...came up very "scrawny" the year after, and didn't come up at all last year. The plant has sentimental value and she's heartbroken. Is there anything she can do to give it a "boost" for this year? Or has the plant perished? Thanks, Felecia |
| Bleeding heart (Dicentra spectabilis)is a fairly robust plant and does well in a shady or partly shady location with a soil that is well drained. It will die if the soil is too wet.It does go dormant each summer so perhaps that is why it seemed to dwindle and disappear. Otherwise, if it does not appear this spring I suspect it is gone and there is not much you can do. I'm sorry. |
