I am starting a new flower bed beside my deck. The soil is constantly damp to wet. I need to know of some perennials that will survive or do well in this area. The plants will be in full sun until noon.

Some plants to consider and experiment with might be astilbe, goats beard, sweet woodruff, Siberian and Japanese iris, hostas, and Joe Pye weed. You might be able to expand the selection by creating a slightly raised bed. This would reduce the chance of losing plants to excess moisture during the winter time.
