|I would like a perennial, flowering vine to grow on the West side of my house. This particular location will only get late afternoon (intense) sun. I have tried Morning Glory and Moonflowers (which I LOVE) with no luck. There s a beautiful old trellison this side of my house, but I can t get anything to grow there. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.|
|It looks like you are in USDA zone 7. Here are some suggestions for flowering vines suitable for your area:
Argentine Trumpet Vine (Clytostoma callistegioides)
Confederate Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides)
Trumpet Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens)
Trumpet Creeper (Campsis radicans)
Yellow Jasmine (Gelsemium sempervirens)
You may want to have your soil tested, and plan to add organic matter (and whatever else the test results recommend) to the planting holes. Besure to mulch the bed well, to help conserve moisture, and keep the new plants well watered, especially in their first year.
