|I have an Abraham Lincoln long stem red rose bush. This week (11/6/97) it began showing signs of mildew on the leaves and buds. The plant is located in semi-sunny patio north of the house.
|Powdery mildew loves roses, especially in your situation with evening moisture and cool temperatures. You can feed your rose one last time before winter, but to keep the mildew away try using a neem-based product called Rose Defence. It has neem oil as its active ingredient and although it is harmless to insects, pets and humans the oil does stop mildew infections. It is available through Gardener's Supply Co, Burlington, VT. 800-863-1700, www.gardeners.com.
