|We have a poorly placed plum tree in our yard - it looks like it might be 10 years old. Will it survive if we transplant it? Do you have any suggestions?
|Unfortunately, a tree of that age would be very difficult to move and the digging would be arduous enough to likely warrant use of a special tree spade. The tree should probably also be root pruned beginning a year or so in advance to encourage it to grow new roots nearer the trunk to facilitate reestablishement after the move. A chain saw might be more in order, then replant a new tree of your choice in a more suitable spot. I'm sorry about the tree.|
