I say you remove the burlap from the tree roots. My brother-in-law says you leave the burlap on. Who's right? Thanks. |
I'm with you! Removing the burlap and spreading the roots out in a natural fashion will prevent girdling. Although burlap is supposed to decompose underground, it could take years. While confined in the rotting burlap, your tree roots could begin to grow around in circles rather than reach out into new soil. Play it safe and remove the burlap. |
